Head of School
MA in Biblical Counseling at The Master’s University; BS in Special Education at University of Maryland; 20+ years of experience working in classical Christian schools
In 1995, I accepted the position of Headmistress of Rockbridge Academy in Millersville, Maryland and in 2009 we helped Trinity Christian School in Kailua, Hawaii transition to the classical model. In 2011, I accepted the position of Head of School here at Covenant. At that time, the school was looking to begin a high school and I was looking to use my experience to help start a high school for my own children (one of whom just graduated from Covenant’s inaugurating senior class).
I was first drawn to Covenant’s vision to train the heart of each student to be servant leaders through a great books curriculum. The school’s mission is directed at the right goal: the heart. C.S. Lewis says in The Abolition of Man, “The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate deserts.” Teaching is the art of loving our subject and students so well that they are increasingly drawn towards what is true, good and beautiful. I love working with such an amazing team of educators as we learn more and more how to teach like The Master Teacher, Jesus Christ.
One of my favorite weekend activities is to escape to the hills of Willis, Texas and relax with my husband, our four children and son-in-law. My husband and I enjoy working together and have always been involved in education together. Whether we are walking the trails in Covenant’s Brumlow Preserve, enjoying a date night or walking the beach, we’re always talking, planning and thinking together.
